Francisco Jesús Hernández Pérez Oaxaca, Oaxaca

A great admirer of Rodolfo Morales (painter, 1925-2001), Francisco Jesús Hernández Pérez considers himself a self-taught artist. In addition to his unique silver jewelry, he also creates tissue paper collages, all whimsical, colorful and special and also wooden tendajónes, which for him are miniature stores.

His use of scale comes naturally as he by trade an architect. The boxes for the tendajónes are ordered to his specifications but the entire process of his collage is his own. He also uses recycled objects in this work.

As a designer of unique and inspired silver jewelry, Francisco is at the top of his craft. He melts the silver, laminates, welds, polishes and then polishes again to yield the final piece. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind work of art that gives rein to his passion for design. Many of his pieces include handmade milagros (folk charms that are traditionally used for healing purposes and as votive offerings in Mexico).

Francisco has participated in exhibitions such as the Best of the Best of Art in Action, organized by the University of Oxford, London, where he exhibited his work in the year 2013.
